<JWolf> One thing I rather enjoyed was that the series takes place on the same Earth we live on. Just in the past

<JWolf> Laurence and Temeraire's relationship reminded me a lot of The Dragon Riders of Pern series

<Dreameaters> it reminded me of paulini books starting with eragon

<Anguissette> aside from the fact that in pern the dragons go between and die if their riders die, and in this one..

<JWolf> Next month it will be 3pm Eastern and 20:00GMT

<Anguissette> they get new riders

<Dreameaters> a clear diffrence between the two is

<Dreameaters> tbat ... till the point i read it

<JWolf> But the relationship is what was similar

<Anguissette> yeah true

<JWolf> And Laurence came t realize how important the ariel corps is for the war

<Anguissette> yeah, instead of planes they have a huge dragon to feed

<Dreameaters> in paulini books the person found a dragon grew up with it... but defies the lord regime and runs for it, but in this book lawrence joins the lord troops

<Anguissette> dreamy, its nothing like eragon

<Dreameaters> till the point i read

<JWolf> I found Laurnece did lighten up as he got to know the people in the corps more.

<Dreameaters> how come Anguissette

<Anguissette> yeah, he wasnt used to not having to be so...informal

<JWolf> But because of the way he cared for Temeraire got others to take similar care as their dragons wanted the same

<Anguissette> did you read the rest of the series or just the first one?

<JWolf> That courier was rather mean to his dragon

<JWolf> I'm into the second one

<Anguissette> yes he was. and then he died

<Dreameaters> i came on a third of the first volume

<Anguissette> oh, you'll enjoy the rest. the last one is depressing though

<Anguissette> didn't much like it. the entire book is depressing

<JWolf> The second book is just so different from the first

<Anguissette> yeah

<JWolf> I'm waiting to find out hos they make it back home

<JWolf> I started Carey's first book and gave up when I got ot chapter 15. Found in incedibly dull

<JWolf> And I've heard from others that her series doesn't get any better

<JWolf> Temeraire is sometimes like a stubborn child

<Anguissette> yes. but he's intelligent

<JWolf> I'm not all that wonderful with heights as well

<Dreameaters> but it gives him a personality

<Dreameaters> which is likeable

<JWolf> Temeraire wants to learn and learn all he can. That's great

<Anguissette> and the fact that he's an celestial is awesome

<Anguissette> i like the roar thing

<JWolf> At least it's from the front, not the rear. LOL!

<Anguissette> as many people that voted for this book, you'd think more than 2 or 3 of us would be participating

<JWolf> What was sad was when we first saw the wind in action and what it did to the enemy dragon

<Anguissette> yeah

<Dreameaters> havent read it :(

<Anguissette> but in a war you have to sacrifice, at least he didn't do it to a friend

<Anguissette> and the longwing ability, their acid. that's pretty neat. i think it's the first time i've heard of a dragon with that type of ability

<JWolf> Same here with the acid

<JWolf> And Volly is a bit slow and yet he is still treated with love and respect

<Anguissette> yeah

<Anguissette> i love volly. he's like the slow kid people cant help but like

<JWolf> And how they all look out for each other is very nice

<Anguissette> i dunno if it's in the first book. but when lily and maximus and temerair all make their little pact. thats kinda cool

<Anguissette> im pretty sure its in this one

<JWolf> Because the first book takes place mostly in the UK/Scotland, I can aks my wife about the places I don't know all that well

<Anguissette> when i was reading i thought about how their should be a map in the book

<Anguissette> yeah....all i had to do was pull up a world map lol

<JWolf> Yep

<Anguissette> i kept forgetting that it was supposed to be the real world

<Dreameaters> notneeded

<JWolf> One thing I found I didn't like...

<Anguissette> wich is a nice difference

<Dreameaters> scotland is easy to find on the world map

<JWolf> the illustrations at the end

<JWolf> they were too small and the text too hard to read

<Anguissette> of the dragons?

<Anguissette> yeah i just didnt like the pictures

<Anguissette> they werent very polished

<JWolf> That has to do with Mobipocket being and obsolete format

<Anguissette> im pretty sure its like that in any format

<JWolf> What I am going to do is take the book from the library and scan the images and replace them

<Anguissette> i have the first 4 on paperback

<JWolf> ePub & MS Reader would be better for images

<Anguissette> and they werent very good

<JWolf> I'll give it a go and see what I can do
